It took awhile, but I finally got a whole bunch of my Imperial Guard minis based yesterday and today.  Now I have everything for my 1,000 pt basic army laid out, and I can get back to painting!  In addition, I put together and based several units of troops that aren't in my basic army, but which I intend to add later - Stormtroopers, Penal Legion, ( Read more... )

Well, I sat down to work on my Imperial Guard unit the other day and discovered that I had gotten the formula wrong on my glue for the flocking, and it was all sufficiently loose that I could rub it off with a thumb.  Maybe I added too much water?

So time to scrape it all off and start again.  *SIGH*

Paid $4.88 to order some shotguns for the eventual modeling job for my Beastmen.  Total cost for my IG unit now stands at $18.17.

Also, mechanteanemone had a dream last night about my cluttering up her bedroom dresser with modeling stuff.  I think I had better clean up the kitchen table work area today.

I remembered one more reason that I hate basing minis - the squadron putty I use for filling in the bases makes me hella woozy and dizzy - even if I use it in a well ventilated area.

Nevertheless, my units are now properly filled, and I can finish adding ballast tomorrow.

You know what I hate?

I hate basing minis.

No, I really hate it.

Part of the reason, I think, is that I generally come at the process badly - I do it at the end instead of at the beginning, so it becomes an entirely new step in the process as opposed to being just one more thing on the model to be base coated at the same time as everything else, given ( Read more... )
